What should I wear?
Wear whatever makes you comfortable.
You will see a variety of different styles of
clothing in our church family. Some are comfortable
worshipping in their "Sunday best." Some are
comfortable worshipping in casual clothes.
We care more about connecting people to God than we
do about their clothes.
What kind of church
is this?
We are not part of any denomination.
We are part of a movement that is designed to
"RESTORE" the Christian faith as it is found in the
New Testament in the Bible. We are completely free
to follow God's Word and God's leading for our
church without having to consult with any
denominational hierarchy. We do not believe that we
are the only Christians who will be saved. We're
just trying to follow God's Word and to carry out
His purposes to the best of our ability.
What is "communion" and why do you offer it every
month?
Communion (aka The Lord's Supper) is designed to
help us remember Jesus' death on
the cross. Jesus himself started it with his
disciples (Matthew
26:26-29). There is nothing magical about the
bread or the wine. They simply serve as reminders
for us. The bread reminds us that Jesus' body was
brutally beaten and nailed to a cross. The wine
reminds us of the blood that spilled out of Jesus'
body when he died for us. We offer communion on the
first Sunday of each month. We do not bar anyone
from taking communion. It is the Lord's Supper.
Since it's God's and not ours, we don't think we
have any right to forbid anyone from taking part. If
you believe in Jesus and wish to take part in
communion with us, you're welcome to do so. If
you're more comfortable not taking part initially,
just pass on the bread and wine trays when they come
to you.
How do I become
a Christian?
The Bible tells us that we must, first and
foremost, admit that we have sinned
(Romans
3:23). A sin is when we miss the mark; we fall
short of God's standard for our lives. There is
nothing we can do to earn or deserve God's
forgiveness for our sin. Instead, he offers
forgiveness, or grace, as a free gift
(Ephesians
2:8). We accept God's grace by believing
in Jesus (John
3:16). We are then called to repent of
our sin (Acts
3:19). "Repent" means to change your mind and to
turn around; to turn from your old life of sin
toward a life that strives to please God. We are not
allowed to keep our faith private. Instead, we must
be willing to publicly confess, or admit,
that we believe in Jesus (Romans
10:9). Finally, we are baptized (aka
dipped, plunged, immersed) into Christ (Acts
2:38).
How do I become
a member of AMOR?
Simply ask to be a member. That's it.
NOTE: While we are really
excited when people desire to "officially" join our
church, we are much more concerned that they
are a part of God's family. Your soul is
infinitely more important than your membership with
a particular church.
What do you have for
my kids?
We have several children's programs here at AMOR.
The include
- Children's Sunday School
- Children's Choir
- Children's Praise Dance
- Youth Appreciation day
- Much More.
I've made a
lot of mistakes in my life. Will I really be accepted in
your church?
If you've really messed things up in your
life, then you're in good company! We all
have made mistakes that we're not proud of. God's
grace is the only hope that we have. A lot of people
think that they've made so many mistakes "the roof
will fall in" if they set foot in a church building.
If that were true, our roof would have caved in a
long time ago! We're nothing but a ragtag group of
sinners who have found forgiveness in Jesus Christ.
You WILL be welcomed and accepted!
